Why become a part of TWHAWC?
The Tennessee Walking Horse Association of Western Canada (TWHAWC) was formed in
1998 by a group of Tennessee Walking Horse enthusiasts to work together to promote
and enjoy this great breed, and continues to attract people who enjoy a variety of
activities with the Tennessee Walking Horse today.
The goals of TWHAWC are to promote the Tennessee Walking Horse and it's diverse
and unique qualities by offering members a host of opportunities to come together
with their horses. TWHAWC offers multiple organized group trails - some simply day
rides to weekend camp trips. A highlight of the trail riding season is the May long
weekend trip to Kootenay Plains! There are always members looking for fellow
members for spontaneous rides too! TWHAWC sponsors at least two gaited clinics
each year to assist members in learning how to get the most enjoyment out of
their
gaited horse and simply to get together with fellow members. TWHAWC maintains a
prominent presence at local trade and equine fairs. This year, TWHAWC will have
a key role at the Mane Event, an all equine trade exposition in Red Deer, Alberta.
TWHAWC is the proud sponsor of the Great Northern Regional Versatility Show
hosted in Thorsby, Alberta on July 4/5 2009 and the Western Canadian Regional Horse
And Futurity hosted in Olds, Alberta on Sep 12/13 2009.
Memberships does have its advantages. In addition to the opportunity to participate
in a wide range of equine activities, TWHAWC holds regular membership meetings,
and publishes a newsletter put out every two months. Membership includes free
advertising in the TWHAWC Website, including breeding opportunities, horses for
sale, and any information members wish to communicate with other members. So come
ride with us and join in on the fun.
