The Youth Directors Jessica and Reagan have organized a Charity fund raiser for the ALS Association.
In case you haven't heard of the Ice Bucket Challenge well here is your chance to find out and get involved! The ladies are requesting $20 donations and a bucket of ice water shall be poured a top your person. Sounds easy, doesn't it!

Again, what a great show! It was nice to see so many people out showing their horses and enjoying time spent in the company of other TWH enthusiasts.

Once again another show comes to a close. WHAT A SHOW IT WAS! In my short time with the club this has been the most well attended show I've been too. I'm not sure of the exact numbers but I did hear something close to 34 horses and 32 riders attended over the 3 days. It was great to see some new faces compete as well.

I normally compete in the shows so to be the Ring Steward at this event was a real eye opener. I'm use to entering the ring with blinders on and focused on the ride ahead. Most times in the ring I don't even notice that there are others in there with me, unless of course I'm making decisions to pass, but otherwise the only time I realize I wasn't out there alone is in line up. To have the opportunity to stand in the center and watch each horse in a class gives me a new perspective on what actually happens in the ring, and not just the limited personal view I had.

I played a little game in my head, picking the horses I wanted to place to see how close I was to the judge. I was so wrong in the beginning. I realized I was letting my personal views affect how I was looking at the horse. Come Sunday I was mentally placing the class almost always how the judge placed the class. Granted on Sunday the horses are a little more tired and mistakes were sometimes easier for me to see. I missed not being able to ride, but I was also grateful for the opportunity to see a show from a different perspective. I encourage everyone to take a turn in the Ring Steward position to see just how different the Judge sees the class. I've sat in the stands before but that doesn't give you the same view as being in center ring.

All proceeds from the dinner go back into the show. For the June Show they donated back $600 to the show and it looks like the July show will receive close to $700 from the dinner.

WOW! What a great way to kick off Show Season!
This show was like a well oiled machine. This was the first time we tried a catered dinner for Friday and Saturday night, and I must say it was excellent. Having dinner catered on Friday made starting Gymkhana at 6:30 a lot easier. A BIG Thank You to the catering team: Millie, Luck, Janet & Garry Krause.

Even the judge remarked several times at how impressed she was to see such a dedicated group of riders with such good sportsmanship.

The 2014 Gaited experience was once again a great success thanks to our clinicians Barbara Civils and Jarad Carrier. It was attended by approximately 16 Tennessee Walking Horse enthusiasts who were able to have hands on learning from 2 very talented trainers. Attendees were able to practice all aspects of riding including the amazing walking horse gaits.  It was a great learning experience for all that attended and a special thanks to Neitak Equestrian for hosting us for the 6th season in a row! - Brent Bachman

Show season is fast approaching!

The website has updated with the new premium package and as the date gets closer for the other shows their class lists and entry forms will be made available.

Please take a moment to look at our sponsorship packages. Our shows can not operate on passion and smiles alone. Entry and class fees help to cover the shows overhead but in order to operate and offer incentives: ribbons, prize money and prizes, sponsorships are warmly appreciated. You may be a personal sponsor or you can approach your employer, your business or friends business with the sponsorship form in return for advertising space in our Printed Class List handed to every competitor at the shows. All Sponsors will have their name or business announced at intervals though out the show.

The TWHAWC shed was finally constructed, in the snow no less! A HUGE THANK YOU to Brent Bachman, Cory Cole, Ian Smith, Kerry Wasilka, Brian Hoshowski & Randy Hirsekorn. Honorable mention to Loretta Borden, Grace Adams and Sande Hirsekorn who showed up but the guys had all the help they needed. The shed still needs a door and siding and hopefully that will get done soon.
