Tennessee Walking Horse Association of Western Canada

                Welcome to the TWHAWC

The Tennessee Walking Horse is a smooth, strong, athletic, surefooted, beautiful and gentle Horse. These are only some of the attributes of this wonderful gaited breed. The Tennessee Walking Horse is well known for its three easy riding gaits: the flat walk running walk and rocking chair canter. All of reflects in the Tennessee Walking Horse's graceful way of going and pure pleasure experienced by it's rider.

The Tennessee Walking Horse has established itself as a superior trail horse. He is more than capable of carrying his rider over wooded and mountain trails. This breed has the ability to adapt to any terrain. The natural four beet gait, incredible rhythm and extraordinary temperament makes the Tennessee Walking Horse an incredible ride. The Tennessee Walking Horse is truly unique amongst breeds.

The Tennessee Walking Horse Association of Western Canada was incorporated in 1998. We are a group of walking horse enthusiasts throughout Western Canada who work together to promote and enjoy this great breed that we all love.

Our goal is to establish a positive public image and enhance awareness of the Tennessee Walking Horse. We do this through educational forums, distruibution of information to the public, walking horse owners, and through the support and sponsoring of clinics, shows, trail rides, and other equestrian events. Meetings are held in September, November, January, March and May. We also include information sessions of general interest.

Trade ShowEach year we hold a booth at the Mane Event in Red Deer Alberta, as well as one in Fultonvale, Alberta at the Fultonvale Horse Show Case.

Our purpose is to introduce new people to the breed and to unite Walking Horse owners throughout Western Canada. Various other displays are held at different locations throughout the year.
