Love to Trail Ride!

This is an open invitation to bring you and your walking horse to the Drayton Valley Horse Club's Riverside Trails. A group of us (Tennessee Walking Horse owners) ride every Tuesday and Thursday at 10 or 11 am.

We ride no less than 10 miles and if you can't come those days the weekend would be alright as well; just let us know a few days in advance.

Our trail system follows the Pembina River as you can see in this photo. For more information on the Riverside Trails please click on the DV Horse Club link or phone  Verna at 780-542-3829  or  Ethel at 780-542-6804.

Guest Blog by Ethel Mankow

The Drayton Valley Horse Club held their annual Cancer Ride at the DV Horse Club's Riverside Trails on Sunday May 5. Of the 55 riders that attended 14 of them were riding Tennessee Walking horses.

The first picture is on one of the trails where we stopped for a short break.
Ethel Mankow is second from the left with her daughter and son-in-law (far left). This scenic trail is adjacent to the Pembina River shown in the second
photo where you see Verna Sprague in the front. The third picture shows 12 of the 14 riders just before the afternoon ride.

The Cancer ride starts at 10 am; with the people riding Tennessee Waking Horses leaving the staging area first so we can keep our flat walk or running walk without making it difficult for the other breeds to keep up. We are first to leave on the afternoon ride as well.

In the morning we ride for 1 1/2 hours; come back to camp for back for barbequed hot dogs and hamburgers with fresh veggies and the beverage of your choice. In the afternoon we do a 2 hour ride which is followed by a delicious roast beef dinner.

We always have a great time riding together and each year we meet new people riding this fantastic breed. Come join us next year!

A big thank you to Caroline Hoffman who hosted the Gaited Clinics. Her presentations kept the audience involved and engaged while the clinic partisipants got very valuble advice.

Thank you to eveyone who helped with the booth, rode in the clinics and in the breed demos.

At the time of this posting the Breed Demo Video posted on our facebook pages has been viewed 2,522 times and the Clinic Video has been viewed 910 times. TWHBEA has also shared the Breed Demo video on their Facebook page as well. WOW! Talk about exposure!
